دادگاهی در کنیا تعلیق مرکز قرنطینه ابولا که با حمایت آمریکا ساخته شده بود و اعتراضات و ناآرامی‌های گسترده‌ای را برانگیخته و دو کشته برجای گذاشته است را به مدت سه هفته تمدید کرد.

صدها نفر در اعتراض به اقدامات ایالات متحده برای ایجاد یک مرکز قرنطینه ابولا در یک پایگاه نظامی در آنجا، به خیابان‌های نانیوکی در مرکز کنیا آمدند.

هزاران نفر در نانیوکی در اعتراض به طرح مرکز قرنطینه ابولا برای شهروندان آمریکایی در پایگاه هوایی لایکیپیا تظاهرات کردند. ارتش مانع از تجمع معترضان در نزدیکی دروازه اصلی شد.

دو منبع آگاه به واشنگتن پست گفتند که دولت ترامپ به وزارت دفاع ایالات متحده دستور داده است تا ظرف هفته آینده یک مرکز قرنطینه ۵۰ تا ۲۵۰ تختخوابی و بیمارستان صحرایی نظامی در کنیا احداث کند که برای اسکان آمریکایی‌های در معرض ویروس کشنده ابولا در شیوع رو به رشد آن در جمهوری دموکراتیک کنگو مورد استفاده قرار خواهد گرفت.

در بحبوحه جنگ در خاورمیانه، ارتش آمریکا این ماه چهار حمله هوایی در سومالی انجام داد - دو حمله علیه الشباب و دو حمله علیه داعش.

پلیس کنیا اعلام کرد که شمار تلفات سیل در این کشور به ۷۱ نفر رسیده است. سیل در کنیا جان ۶۲ نفر را گرفته است که ۳۳ نفر در نایروبی جان خود را از دست داده‌اند. بیش از ۲۰۰۰ خانواده به دلیل ادامه بارش شدید باران در مناطق مختلف، آواره شده‌اند.

تنش در منطقه نمک تانا در مگارینی و دلتای تانا پس از آن بالا گرفته است که گفته می‌شود یک شرکت نمک برای گسترش خاکریزها، بیش از ۵۰۰۰ نفر از ساکنان را به زور بیرون رانده است. ساکنان به این اقدام اعتراض کرده و آن را یک بی‌عدالتی کامل توصیف کردند.
