Οι σομαλικές κυβερνητικές δυνάμεις συγκρούστηκαν με μαχητές της αλ-Σαμπάμπ την Κυριακή στο πρώην στρατιωτικό στρατόπεδο Νταϊνουάι, μόλις 18 χιλιόμετρα νότια της Μπαϊντόα. Ο αρχικός στόχος των σομαλικών κυβερνητικών δυνάμεων ήταν η Μπαϊντόα, όπου ένας περιφερειακός ηγέτης @Laftagareen επανεξελέγη με έμμεση ψήφο, σε αντίθεση με το σχέδιο της ομοσπονδιακής ηγεσίας της κυβέρνησης να διεξαγάγει λαϊκές εκλογές.
